What to Do If Your Binance C2C Order Gets Cancelled After You Already Paid

· About 14 min · CoinWiki Editorial

You're buying USDT on Binance C2C, you've already transferred money via bank or payment app, and then you check back only to find the order has been cancelled by the system β€” or the merchant hasn't released the coins and the order went abnormal. The money's gone but the crypto never arrived. What do you do?

Why Orders Get Cancelled

C2C trades have a time limit. After placing an order, you get a payment window (usually 15 to 30 minutes). During this window you need to do two things: transfer the money to the merchant, then tap "I've Paid" in the app.

Scenario 1: Paid but didn't tap "I've Paid"

You sent the money, but for whatever reason you didn't get back to the app in time to hit the confirm button. When the countdown ended, the system automatically cancelled the order.

Scenario 2: Tapped "I've Paid" but the merchant claims they didn't receive payment

You confirmed the payment, but the merchant says the transfer hasn't come through β€” maybe due to cross-bank transfer delays or mismatched information β€” and the merchant chose to cancel.

Scenario 3: System glitch

In rare cases, the system itself has an issue that causes an abnormal order status.

Regardless of which scenario applies, as long as you actually paid, there's a way to recover your funds. First, make sure you're using the official platform via Register on Binance.

What to Do Immediately

Save Your Payment Proof

This is the most important step. Screenshot and save:

  • Bank transfer records (including amount, time, and recipient details)
  • Payment app transfer details page
  • Binance C2C order details page

If you transferred via a banking app, export the electronic receipt β€” it's more convincing than a screenshot.

Contact the Merchant

Even after the order is cancelled, you can usually still see the order record and the merchant's chat window in the app. Message the merchant, explain that you've already paid, and attach your transfer screenshot.

Many reputable merchants will proactively refund you in this situation. After all, they received your money without completing the trade, and not refunding would hurt their reputation score.

File an Appeal

If the merchant doesn't respond or refuses to refund, find the order in Download Binance App and tap the "Appeal" button.

When filing an appeal, you'll need to upload payment proof and describe the situation in detail. Binance support will step in to mediate.

The Appeal Process

Step 1: Submit the Appeal

On the order details page, tap "Appeal," select the reason (e.g., "Paid but order was cancelled"), and upload payment screenshots.

Step 2: Support Intervention

Binance support will contact both you and the merchant to verify the payment. They may ask you for additional proof, such as the original bank statement.

Step 3: Wait for a Decision

After verification, support will make a ruling. If they confirm that you paid and the amount is correct:

  • The merchant will be required to refund your money
  • Or compensation will be deducted from the merchant's security deposit

Step 4: Funds Returned

Refunds are usually returned to your original payment method. If deducted from the merchant's deposit, the funds may arrive as USDT directly in your Binance account.

The entire appeal process typically takes a few hours to a day or two. Complex cases may take longer.

How to Prevent This from Happening

Be Ready Before You Pay

Before placing an order, confirm that your payment method (bank card, payment app) has no limits and sufficient balance. Don't place an order only to discover your card doesn't have enough funds.

Confirm Immediately After Paying

As soon as your transfer goes through, switch right back to the Binance app and tap "I've Paid." Don't get distracted β€” it takes just a few seconds, so don't delay.

Use Instant Payment Methods

Prefer payment apps that settle instantly. Cross-bank transfers may have delays, which can lead to situations where the merchant says they haven't received payment.

Choose Verified Merchants

On the C2C page, prioritize merchants with a blue "Verified" badge. These merchants have been vetted by Binance and have posted security deposits β€” their credibility is more reliable.

Don't Go for the Cheapest Price

Some merchants offer abnormally low prices to attract beginners, but their service quality and response speed may not be reliable. Merchants with moderate pricing and high trade volume are a safer bet.

Important Notes

Don't write sensitive keywords in transfer notes. Never put "crypto," "USDT," "Bitcoin," etc. in bank transfer remarks β€” it could trigger risk controls and cause the transfer to fail or your account to be frozen.

The transfer amount must exactly match the order amount. Don't round up or down. If the order is 698.50, transfer exactly 698.50, not 700. Mismatched amounts may prevent the merchant from confirming.

Always transfer to the merchant's designated account. Don't send money to some random Binance-related account β€” the payment details shown on the order page are what you should use.

FAQ

Where are the money and crypto during an appeal?

The money is with the merchant (or in transit via bank transfer), and the crypto is frozen in the merchant's security deposit on Binance. Neither party can touch these assets until the appeal is resolved.

Will I definitely win the appeal?

As long as you have solid payment proof and the amount and recipient details match, the success rate is very high. Without valid proof of payment, however, it becomes much harder.

Can a cancelled order be reopened?

No. A cancelled order is final and cannot be reopened. You can only recover funds through the appeal process.

What if this keeps happening to me?

Check whether your habits are the issue: Are you always paying at the last second? Is your payment method too slow? Adjusting your workflow will help a lot.

Security Reminder

Stay calm during the appeal process and operate through the official app from Register on Binance. Don't let the merchant lure you into communicating off-platform β€” all conversations and evidence must stay within Binance to be valid.

If someone contacts you on messaging apps claiming to be "Binance support" offering to help with your appeal, that's a scammer. Real support only communicates through the official customer service window in Download Binance App.

Never share your bank card PIN, payment password, or Binance login verification codes with anyone.
