Which Blockchain Network Is Cheapest for Depositing USDT?

· About 8 min · CoinWiki Editorial

When depositing USDT from an external wallet or another exchange into Binance, the fees can vary by as much as 10x depending on which network you choose. Picking the right one can save you a significant amount.

Before making a deposit, visit the Binance official site to log into your account. Mobile users should download the APK and use the latest app for the best experience.

USDT Deposit Networks Supported by Binance

Binance currently supports USDT deposits across multiple networks, including:

  • ERC20 (Ethereum)
  • TRC20 (TRON)
  • BEP20 (BSC / BNB Smart Chain)
  • Arbitrum One
  • Optimism
  • Polygon
  • Solana
  • Avalanche C-Chain

Fee Comparison Across Networks

Using withdrawal from another exchange to Binance as an example, approximate fees are:

Network Withdrawal Fee (approx.) Arrival Time Recommendation
TRC20 1 USDT 1-3 minutes Highly recommended
BEP20 0.5-1 USDT 1-3 minutes Highly recommended
Polygon 0.1-1 USDT 1-5 minutes Recommended
Arbitrum 0.5-1 USDT 1-5 minutes Recommended
Optimism 0.5-1 USDT 1-5 minutes Recommended
Solana 1 USDT Under 1 minute Recommended
Avalanche 1 USDT 1-3 minutes Okay
ERC20 3-10 USDT 3-15 minutes Not recommended

Note: The fees above are charged by the sending platform. Actual amounts depend on each platform's real-time rates. Binance itself does not charge deposit fees.

Why TRC20 and BEP20 Are the Best Value

TRC20 (TRON network) is currently the most widely used network for USDT transfers. One of TRON's design goals is low fees and high throughput. Most exchanges charge only 1 USDT for withdrawals to TRC20 addresses, and some platforms offer zero-fee withdrawals.

BEP20 (BNB Smart Chain) is Binance's own blockchain, so transfers within the ecosystem naturally have an advantage. Withdrawals from platforms supporting BSC to Binance also cost very little.

Why ERC20 Is Not Recommended

Ethereum mainnet gas fees are highly volatile. During network congestion, a single transfer's gas fee can reach 10-20 USD. Unless you only have USDT on an ERC20 address, there's no reason to use this network.

How to Choose the Network When Depositing

  1. In the Binance App, tap "Deposit" and search for USDT.
  2. The system will list all supported networks. Select the one you want to use.
  3. Copy the corresponding deposit address.
  4. On the sending platform, when withdrawing, select the exact same network.
  5. Paste the deposit address and confirm.

Critical reminder: The deposit and withdrawal networks must match! If you selected a TRC20 address on Binance, you must also select TRC20 on the sending side. Choosing the wrong network could result in permanent loss of funds.

How to Verify You've Selected the Right Network

  • TRC20 addresses typically start with the letter T
  • ERC20/BEP20/Arbitrum addresses start with 0x
  • Solana addresses are long alphanumeric strings

If the address starts with 0x but you selected a different EVM-compatible chain, recovery may be possible in some cases, but the process is complicated. The safest approach is to double-check carefully.

Money-Saving Tips

If you frequently deposit and withdraw USDT, keep an eye out for zero-fee promotions from various exchanges. Some platforms offer free daily withdrawal quotas for specific networks -- take advantage of these to cut costs further.

Overall, for everyday USDT transfers, TRC20 or BEP20 are the best choices -- cheap, fast, and reliable.
