When you notice account anomalies or suspect a hack, time is money. Every second could mean asset losses, so you must act immediately. Here are the actions you should take in order of priority.
Immediately visit the Binance official site and log into your account. If you need to operate from another device, Android users can download the APK to install the Binance App.
Step 1: Freeze Your Account Immediately (Top Priority)
Binance provides a one-click account freeze feature. After logging in, go to the "Security Settings" page, find the "Disable Account" option, and click to confirm. Once frozen, all trading, withdrawals, and login operations will be suspended. If you can't log in, you can send a freeze request through your registered email β Binance will provide a one-click freeze link in the email.
Step 2: Contact Binance Support
After freezing the account, immediately contact Binance online support. Find the support entry on the Binance website or app, select the "Account Security" category, and describe the anomalies you've observed. Provide as many details as possible: when you noticed the anomaly, what unusual operations occurred, and whether you've recently entered account information on suspicious websites.
Step 3: Check Abnormal Activity Records
If you can still log in, immediately review the following: login history for unfamiliar IP addresses or devices; transaction records for unauthorized trades; withdrawal records to confirm no assets were transferred out; the API management page to check for unknown API keys that may have been created.
Step 4: Change Password and Security Settings
After confirming account security, immediately change your login password to a brand-new strong password. Reset all two-factor authentication methods, including Google Authenticator. Check whether the bound email and phone number have been changed β if so, you'll need to appeal to have them restored.
Step 5: Check Device Security
Account hacks often result from device malware or phishing attacks. Run a full scan on your computer and phone with antivirus software. Check browser extensions for suspicious plugins. Change your email password, because if your email has also been compromised, the attacker can continue controlling your Binance account.
Step 6: Post-Incident Security Hardening
After the incident is resolved, comprehensively strengthen your account security. Enable all available two-factor authentication methods, set up an anti-phishing code, enable the withdrawal whitelist feature to restrict withdrawals to whitelisted addresses only. Consider transferring most of your assets to a hardware wallet to reduce exchange holdings.
Prevention Tips
Never enter your Binance credentials on any unofficial website. Don't click links of unknown origin. Change your password regularly. Use a dedicated email exclusively for Binance registration β don't share it with other websites.
