Will My Binance Data Still Be There After Switching Phones?

· About 6 min · CoinWiki Editorial

Getting a new phone is exciting, but it also raises concerns about losing app data. When it comes to Binance, there's no need to worry β€” your account data and asset information are stored on Binance's servers, not on your phone locally.

Before switching, it's a good idea to visit the Binance official site on your old phone to confirm your account information. If your new phone runs Android, you can directly download the APK to install Binance.

Your Data Is Safe

As a centralized exchange, Binance stores all user data on cloud servers. This includes your account balance, transaction history, open orders, identity verification documents, security settings, and more. Switching phones won't cause any data loss β€” just log in again on the new phone to restore everything.

Pre-Switch Preparation

Although your data won't be lost, there are a few things to confirm before switching. First, check your two-factor authentication method. If you use Google Authenticator, pay special attention: Google Authenticator data is stored locally by default, and the verification codes on your old phone won't work after switching. Before switching phones, back up the Google Authenticator key or export it to your new phone.

If you use SMS or email verification, switching phones has no impact, as those verification codes are sent to your phone number or email and aren't device-dependent.

Installing Binance on Your New Phone

Choose the appropriate installation method based on your new phone's operating system. Android phones can download the APK directly from the official website; iPhones need to install via an overseas Apple ID or TestFlight. After installation, open the Binance App and log in with your account credentials.

Post-Login Verification

When logging into a new device, Binance will perform security verification and may ask for your SMS verification code, email verification code, or Google Authenticator code. This is a normal security measure to confirm the account owner is logging in from a new device. After completing verification, all your data will be fully available.

If Google Authenticator Is Unavailable

If you can't access your Google Authenticator codes after switching phones, you'll need to go through Binance's account appeal process to reset two-factor authentication. This requires submitting identity documents, and the review usually takes several business days. To avoid this hassle, it's strongly recommended to migrate your authenticator before switching phones.

Handling Your Old Phone

After the switch is complete, log out of your Binance account on the old phone and uninstall the app. If you're selling or recycling the old phone, be sure to factory reset it to clear all personal data.
