What Is Identity Verification?

Identity verification, also known as KYC (Know Your Customer), is a mandatory process for exchanges to verify users' real identities. After completing KYC on Binance, you'll be able to use core features like fiat trading and withdrawals. If you don't have an account yet, register one through the Binance official site, or download the APK to register on your phone.

Step-by-Step Verification Process

After logging into your Binance account, click on your profile icon in the upper right corner and select "Identity Verification" to access the KYC page.

Step 1: Fill in basic information. Enter your real name, date of birth, and residential address. Your name must exactly match your ID document. Chinese users can enter their Chinese name.

Step 2: Upload your ID document. The system supports national ID cards, passports, and driver's licenses. Choose one and follow the prompts to photograph and upload the front and back. When taking photos, keep the following in mind: use a clean background, ensure even lighting, make sure all four corners of the document are visible, and ensure text is clearly readable.

Step 3: Facial recognition verification. The system will activate your camera and ask you to face it directly for a facial scan. Remove glasses and hats, and make sure your face is unobstructed. Follow the on-screen prompts to turn your head or blink.

Step 4: Wait for review. After submission, results typically come back within a few minutes to a few hours. During peak periods, it may take one to two days.

Tips to Improve Your Approval Rate

Using the mobile app for verification is more convenient than the desktop version, as your phone can directly access the camera for photos and facial recognition with more stable image quality.

When photographing your ID, avoid using the flash -- natural light works best. Don't take pictures of your ID displayed on a screen; photograph the physical original document.

If your verification is rejected using a national ID card, try using a passport instead. Passports have a higher OCR recognition rate due to their international standardized format.

What to Do If Verification Fails

If you receive a verification failure notice, first check the reason provided by the system. Common reasons include blurry photos, expired documents, and name mismatches. Make corrections based on the feedback and resubmit.

If you fail multiple times, contact Binance's online customer support with screenshots of your issue. The support team can assist with manual review. As long as your documents are authentic and valid, you should ultimately pass without problems.
