How Are Binance Fees Actually Calculated?

· About 5 min · CoinWiki Editorial

Many people trade on Binance for a long time without ever understanding how fees are actually charged. Let's break down Binance's fee structure completely so you know what you're paying.

If you haven't registered yet, you can create an account through the Binance official site, or download the APK to install the client.

Spot Trading Fees

Binance's base spot trading fee rate is 0.1%, charged on both buys and sells. That means if you buy 1,000 USDT worth of BTC, the fee is 1 USDT; you pay another fee when selling.

The formula: Fee = Trade Amount x Fee Rate

Example: You buy 0.1 BTC at a price of 30,000 USDT. The trade amount is 3,000 USDT, so the fee is 3,000 x 0.1% = 3 USDT.

Futures Trading Fees

Futures fee rates are split into Maker and Taker:

  • Maker rate: 0.02%
  • Taker rate: 0.05%

Futures fees are calculated based on position value, not margin. If you open a 10,000 USDT position with 10x leverage, the fee is based on 10,000 — not the 1,000 USDT margin you put in.

Opening and closing each incur a fee, so a complete round-trip trade costs two fees.

Withdrawal Fees

Withdrawal fees vary widely by coin and blockchain. For example, withdrawing USDT:

  • ERC20 chain: approximately 3-5 USDT
  • TRC20 chain: approximately 1 USDT
  • BEP20 chain (BSC): approximately 0.3 USDT

Withdrawal fees are a fixed amount regardless of how much you withdraw. Withdrawing 100 USDT or 10,000 USDT costs the same fee.

Deposit Fees

Good news: Binance deposits are free for most cryptocurrencies. However, note that on-chain gas fees are your responsibility — these aren't charged by Binance.

Other Costs

Futures trading has another easily overlooked cost — the funding rate. It's settled every 8 hours, with longs and shorts paying each other. When the funding rate is positive, longs pay shorts; when negative, it's the reverse.

How to Reduce Fees

The most direct method is using BNB to pay fees, which gives you a 25% discount on spot trading. Additionally, upgrading your VIP level gets you lower rates — VIP1 only requires 1 million USDT in 30-day trading volume.

Understanding how fees are calculated lets you trade smarter and avoid unnecessary costs.
