Which Binance Futures Trading Pair Has the Best Liquidity?

· About 7 min · CoinWiki Editorial

Liquidity is a critical factor when choosing a futures trading pair. Good liquidity means low slippage, fast execution, and prices that are harder to manipulate. So which Binance futures pairs have the best liquidity?

Top Liquidity Rankings

After visiting the Binance official site and going to the futures trading page, sort by 24-hour trading volume to see the rankings. Download the APK to check on your phone as well.

Trading pairs that consistently rank at the top:

1. BTCUSDT Perpetual

  • Daily trading volume typically in the tens of billions of dollars
  • Extremely tight bid-ask spread (usually under 0.1 USDT)
  • Best order book depth
  • The undisputed liquidity king

2. ETHUSDT Perpetual

  • Daily trading volume second only to BTC
  • Very tight bid-ask spread
  • Ample liquidity -- even large orders don't worry about slippage

3. Other major coin contracts

  • BNBUSDT, SOLUSDT, XRPUSDT, etc.
  • Good liquidity but a step below BTC and ETH
  • Slippage is manageable under normal trading volumes

What Is Liquidity and Why Does It Matter?

Liquidity is simply "how many buyers and sellers are in the market." A liquid market means:

  • Low slippage: Your market order fills close to the displayed price
  • Fast execution: Orders fill almost instantly
  • Deep order books: Even large orders don't significantly move the price
  • Tight spreads: The gap between the best bid and ask is small

Problems with Low-Liquidity Pairs

If you trade futures contracts with poor liquidity (usually small-cap coins), you may encounter:

  1. Large slippage: Market orders fill much worse than expected
  2. Stop-loss piercing: Price blows through your stop-loss, and you fill far below your stop price
  3. Wicks/spikes: Price spikes violently for an instant and returns, triggering your stop-loss or liquidation before you can react
  4. Difficulty closing: When you want to close, there aren't enough counterparties

Which Pairs Should Beginners Trade?

Recommended for beginners:

  • First choice: BTCUSDT Perpetual -- best liquidity, relatively steady price action
  • Second choice: ETHUSDT Perpetual -- excellent liquidity, slightly more volatile than BTC
  • Third choice: BNBUSDT, SOLUSDT Perpetual -- decent liquidity

Until you have sufficient experience, it's not recommended to trade futures contracts for lower-ranked small-cap coins.

How to Judge a Trading Pair's Liquidity

  1. Check 24-hour volume: Higher is better
  2. Check order book depth: More volume at each price level is better
  3. Check bid-ask spread: Tighter spread means better liquidity
  4. Check open interest: High open interest means more participants

Liquidity Varies by Time of Day

Even for BTC contracts, liquidity differs across time zones:

  • Asian session (08:00-16:00 UTC+8): Good liquidity
  • European/US session (16:00-24:00 UTC+8): Best liquidity
  • Late night session (00:00-08:00 UTC+8): Relatively lower liquidity

Try to trade during high-liquidity periods, especially when placing larger orders.
